The Bald Mountain House, the highest elevation B&B in North Carolina, is located inside the Wolf Laurel Resort on the Tennessee border, at the foot of Big Bald Mountain.

We offer 3-room suites, over 100 feet of covered verandas with long mountain views, including Mt. Mitchell, the highest summit in the eastern United States. At an elevation of 4,500′, you can expect cool air in the summer and beautiful leaf scenery in autumn.

Unplug and unwind with a hike on the Appalachian Trail using our private, direct entrance at Big Bald Mountain (elevation 5,516 feet). In addition to AT hiking, whitewater rafting, zip lining, kayaking, fishing and on premises horseback riding are all popular outdoor activities here. For those looking for a more laid back experience, sit a spell in our porch rocking chairs and watch the endless array of birds at the numerous feeders, or take a refreshing nap in the covered hammock.

Early risers can begin the day with an assortment of coffees and teas. Breakfast is prepared and served by your host, a trained chef, who will not let you start your day hungry.
